The United States presidential election of 2008 is scheduled to be held on November 4, 2008. We asked our newsletter readers who should be the next President of the US. The results are slightly different from the Presidential Poll that Maktoob Research conducted at the end of May 2007 among 3,669 respondents in Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

Our readers prefer to see Hillary Clinton as next President of the US (29%). Barack Obama comes in as second choice (12%), followed by Rudy Giuliani, Former NYC Mayor, with only 6%. Roughly a third states "I do not care" (35%).

Our Presidential Poll conducted in the Arab World also showed support for Hillary Clinton to be the next US President. Her closest rival was Al Gore receiving 3% of the overall vote. Third in line was Barack Obama with only 2%. None of the Republican candidates registered even 1% of the total overall vote, and roughly 57% of those surveyed stated "I do not care".

Why do our readers choose Hillary? "She has more experience in politics and she knows more about how to deal with other countries because of her relationship with Bill Clinton." "She is Bill Clinton’s wife, which is a big plus point. She will get support from Bill."

The majority of the newsletter readers who answered that they "did not care" who is elected president of the US state that the candidates all have the same negative views towards the Middle East, Arabs and Muslims. "All pretend working for a better world, while they make it worse, especially in our Arab world."
